I’ve told you all how much I love audiobooks. I’m an addict! The reason that they’re so fantastic for me is that I’ve got so little time to actually sit down and read. Honestly, I was down to reading only a book or two a month. It was pathetic. My sister kept telling me about audiobooks, but I kept saying that there was no way I could concentrate on listening, my mind would wander, etc, etc. Finally, though, I gave in and tried my first audiobook. It was Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly. I absolutely loved it! And I’ve since read the whole Harry Bosch series, the Mickey Haller series, and all his other books. Now a few things about audiobooks. First, yes, your mind can wander. I find this happens if the book has too much description or drones on in any way about things that aren’t engaging. When my mind wanders, to me, it’s a sign of a bad book. Second, if the reader isn’t good, it can ruin the whole story. And the reader has to be right for the kind of book you’re listening to. You would think a male reader wouldn’t work for a romance, but I’ve been surprised. Men can actually do quite a good job, toning down on the flowery prose. So, I highly recommend you try audiobooks. I just finished listening to The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh, recommended to me by Lloyd Russell of The Book Sage blog. It was a fabulous read! And I think it’s a great introduction to audiobooks.

And now to my big news, I’ve got an audiobook out now! I’m so pleased to tell you about She’s Gotta Be Mine. My husband and I auditioned a lot of readers and we found the perfect fit in June Wayne. She does a marvelous job capturing Bobbie’s character. She has a way with those laugh-out-loud moments. And she carries off the love scenes perfectly. I hope you’ll check it out. You find She’s Gotta Be Mine on Audible. Audible is a membership system so it’s a great way to try audiobooks from a list of thousands. If you’ve already purchased She’s Gotta Be Mine in ebook format from Amazon.com, you can get the book at a reduced rate. So check it out on Amazon, too. It’s also available iTunes.

Here’s a brief blurb for She’s Gotta Be Mine, Cottonmouth Book 1:

Dumped? For her husband’s high school sweetheart he hasn’t seen in twenty years? Roberta Jones Spivey isn’t going to lay down for that. Instead, she reinvents herself and the new Bobbie Jones—new haircut, new name, new attitude—follows her soon-to-be ex to the small Northern California town of Cottonmouth.

What better way to show him—and his sweetheart—what he’s missing in the brand new Bobbie Jones than taking up with the town’s local bad boy—who’s also reputed to be a serial killer. Nick Angel is devilishly handsome and sexy as all get-out. In a word, perfect.

It’s all going exactly according to plan…until a real murder rocks the little town of Cottonmouth. Of course, Nick didn’t do it…did he?

I hope you’ll pop over to Audible to listen to an excerpt!
