What makes firefighters so smokin’ hot?
As I mentioned in my Monday blog, I’ve got Bella Andre guest blogging today. She’s going to be giving away an autographed copy of Game for Anything and Game for Seduction to one lucky poster. Be sure to leave you email address so that we can contact you. And isn’t the cover of Wild Heat HOT!!!! You’re going to love this book! So take it away, Bella…
Thanks so much, Jasmine, for letting me sneak onto your blog for the day. I’m thrilled to be here! I’ve written books about architects and chefs and football players, but this past year, I think I’ve finally met the ultimate men of my dreams. Firefighters. Hotshots, the elite of the elite, the men who run into the wildfires that everyone else runs away from. Excuse me while I fan myself.
Of course, when I first started thinking my firefighter trilogy, I knew a little bit based on my husband’s experience as a volunteer firefighter in our town. But after months of reading pretty much every book ever written on wildland firefighting, and trolling the internet for blogs and interviews, and personal (ahem!) interviews with hotshots, I realized the reason for their extreme “hotness” went way beyond their muscles.
They’re sexy because they’re heroes. Because they’ll not only die to protect the woman they love, but because they put their lives on the line every single day for strangers, to save houses and buildings, and to protect our forests and wildlands. If you’ve got any hot firefighter stories to share, I’d love to hear them. Who knows, they just might end up in my next book! 😉 Bellahttp://www.bellaandre.com/
In WILD HEAT, the first book in Bella Andre’s HOTSHOTS: Men of Fire series, Logan Cain is a firefighter addicted to risk. Maya Jackson is the sultry beauty he never saw coming, targeting him as her number-one suspect in a string of deadly wildfires. But when Maya’s life is threatened, Logan vows to protect the woman sworn to bring him down. And as desire ignites, nothing-not the killer fire or the killer hot on their trail-can douse the flames….Allison Brennan called it “a breathtaking, terrific, hot, hot, hot romantic suspense.” Brenda Novak said, “WILD HEAT has one sexy firefighter – and a love that burns up the pages.” And according to Catherine Coulter the book is “a roller coaster ride. Don’t miss it.”
I’m fanning myself, too. That cover is soooo hot!
Hello Bella and Jasmine,
The cover is so hot. I think if I was to touch it, I’d get burnt. LOL
Your book sounds wonderful. Love those firefighters. Have a great day.
Hey Bella and Jasmine:
Ditto on the cover. It is fabulous. I love firefighter stories and after suffering through non-stop fires last summer I saw these guys in action. They are just amazing what they did and the houses they saved. And I agree the best thing about them is they’re heroes.
Hi Bella,I love your books, always a great read! I’m jealous of your reserch interviews and can’t wait to read all three. Last holiday season I baked and took cookies to my local fire station and they were a bunch of sweethearts which made them hot. Now I know that if I get distracted baking they’ll come a little quicker to help me, LOL.-Marti
Hello girls!
Oooh, I LOVE stories about firefighters…and smokejumpers (Bella: Is that term still used?) in particular. That cover is enough to create a case of spontaneous combustion. Wonder if we have a firefighter that looks like that here in our little town. [wink]
Jasmine – Hey you! Thanks for the lovely intro and warm welcome. 😉
Housemouse – I hear you on the sizzling cover! You should see the cover for the 2nd book in the trilogy. My mouth drops every time I look at it!
Kathy – Sorry to hear about the non-stop fires last year. But at least you got to see them up close and personal!!
Marti – THanks so much for reading my books! I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed them. And aren’t you sweet, baking and delivering treats to your local FFs!
Rita – Hi there! Yup, smokejumpers is still used. Pretty amazing what those guys can/will do, isn’t it?
😉 Bella
I forgot to say that, like Kathy, we suffered through fires last summer. In fact, one of them was only a quarter of a mile away. But they were dropping that flame retardant in like 30 seconds and only 15 acres were burned, no houses threatened. Since I live in the woods, it could have been a disaster for us. Thank God for firefighters.
And I’m so glad you’ve written about them, Bella. Especially giving us those totally hot covers!
Jasmine – I was there that day, going for a walk with my sister in law who lives close to you. For hours we watched the helicopters fly overhead to do their drops. They rock!
We were fortunately 45 minutes away from the fires but suffered with visibility of less than a mile at times. Very miserable. I did have a chance to drive by their command post they set and talk about miles of hunks. They were everywhere!

OMG…I totally forgot how close those fires were to you last year, Jas! Which is really amazing considering how worried I was about you.
If I can’t get a smokejumper that looks like Bella’s covers, I’d take Howie Long as a stand-in! [Firestorm 1998…okay, it wasn’t the best movie, but who doesn’t love Howie?]
Congratulations on the new book, Bella…and the rest in the trilogy.
Oh my, every time I come into the blog to look at comments, that cover grabs me!!!!
Yes, Bella, I’d forgotten you said your SIL lives near me. Firefighters rock. And in this area we really need them. Though those were the first fires that have actually gotten that close since I’ve lived here. Funnily enough, a day before the fires started, I was taking my walk and wondered to myself what the hell we’d do if a fire ripped through here. I hope I didn’t jinx things by thinking that way, because a lot of people did lose their homes.
And thanks for checking on me, Rosemary! I remember that!
I think the cover is HOT! The series sounds good, I’d enjoy reading about firefighters!
Wow, love that cover! Wild Heat sounds great. Firefighter stories = HOT!
Wow, it's a party here today! Thanks for chiming in, everyone. 😉
Rosemary – Thanks for the congrats! 😉
Jasmine – You're cracking me up….love it!
Tetewa & Mary – Sounds like we're all in agreement, here, that firefighters are HOT! 😉
Bella!! 🙂 I absolutely LOVE your books! I asked you a ton of questions yesterday, but my question today is: Why do you kind of go against the norm and write about curvier heroines?
I LOVE IT! So many authors write about pencil thin heroines but yours are so more realistic. MUCH APPRECIATED!
Sexy cover!
I spent 23 years on a small rural volunteer fire department. We took care of everything from house fires to wildland fires. These guys are the most dedicated firefighters around.
Estella, our fire departments in my area are all volunteer, too. We kind of rural. So yes, they’re all very dedicated to do this for us. And thank god for them.
I second Rachie, Bella, I love your curvy heroines. As in Take Me. Gosh I loved that book!
Teresa and Marie have it right! Firefighters are hot. Hmm, I wonder if it’s too late for my husband to take up firefighting?
OOOOOOOHHHHHH I think I am in love with that cover. HOt just doesnt cover it. THe book sounds fabulous I would love to read it. COngrats.
Darn it I am so hot and bothered by the cover I forgot my email address.——————
LOL, Sara, you do make me laugh. And I totally agree on the cover. But just wait til you read the book!!!
Rach – Have I mentioned that I adore you too? 😉 Great question about curvy heroines. First off, I really like playing with the idea of self-esteem. And as a woman (LOL) I know I’ve battled my fair share of demons about body image. Every few books, I find it fun to write a curvier heroine to look at that side of things again. In fact, I’m toying with my current heroine (for book 3 in my HOTSHOTS trilogy) being fuller-figured as well.
Estelle – Cool! So you KNOW things, huh? Hopefully when you read my book it’ll all the ring true to you (at least the spirit, if not the letter, right? LOL)
Sarabelle – Right there with you!!!!
I just have to say the cover for Wild Heat is hot and I have a facination with firemen 🙂 Definitely need this book.e-mail address is: —————-
Greta – Thanks for dropping by!
😉 Bella
Bella I am wondering can I get a blowup of the cover so I can put it above my bed. Just think of the nice dreams I would have everynight after staring at that until I fell asleep. 🙂
I dont know how my hubby would feel, he might night like it. lol
Sara, bet your husband would love it as long as it made you feel frisky!
hi belle and jasminelove your bookslove firemansthey are hot and bravedo u watch rescue —————-
As others have said, I love the cover for this book, almost as much as I love firefighters (and that is saying alot).
What is not to love about firefighters, the things they do on a daily basis amaze me. I don’t think I could do it, but am so glad they do.
I agree with both of you, Kim and booklover, firefighters are the ultimate heroes. And these days in California, to even get into a fire department now, they must also be paramedics. My friend’s son worked his butt off to get into the Redwood City Fire Department, and he loves his job. He’s also cute.
Sarabelle – LOL on the pic above the bed. Mine are all over my office, which isn’t a bad place to start! 😉
Kim – Yup, I’ve watched Rescue. Great show!
Booklover- THanks for dropping by!
😉 Bella
Thanks, Bella, for joining us! And thanks to everyone for stopping by. That was fun!
And drum roll please, the winner of Bella’s Bad Boys of football books is Marti! Congratulations, Marti. I’ll be emailing you privately so we can get your snailmail and send the books off to you.
Hi Bella. What a great cover. Your new trilogy sounds good.
